What StoryNova is and is not
StoryNova Global publishes self-help software and tools. We are a software company. None of our products, and nothing on our sites, provides legal, financial, tax or medical advice, and no product can tell you whether it is right for your situation. Where a product helps you complete a document or make a decision, the judgement about whether it fits your circumstances is yours, or that of a licensed professional you choose to consult.
Each product below has its own section describing what it does and what it does not do. Read the one that applies to you before you buy.
Safekeep
- Safekeep is not a law firm and we do not employ lawyers. Only a licensed attorney in your state can tell you whether a will or directive is right for you.
- Safekeep helps you fill in forms that a state publishes for its own residents: the California Statutory Will (Probate Code section 6240) and Advance Health Care Directive (Probate Code section 4701); the Michigan Statutory Will (MCL 700.2519); the Maine Statutory Will (18-C M.R.S. section 2-517) and Advance Health Care Directive (section 5-805); the Wisconsin Basic Will (Wis. Stat. 853.55) and Power of Attorney for Health Care (Wis. Stat. 155.30); and the New Mexico statutory will (NMSA 1978 section 45-2A-17) and Optional Advance Health-Care Directive (section 24-7A-4). We reproduce each state's text and fill in the blanks with your answers. We do not add, remove or reword anything in those forms, because the law says each form must be used as written.
- A document is valid only when you sign it exactly as the form and the signing checklist require, with the witnesses (and, where allowed, a notary) the form specifies. Printing a document does not make it valid.
- The statutory will is a simple will. The state's own guidance says to see a lawyer if your assets exceed the federal estate tax exclusion, if you own business assets or property in another state, if you want a trust, or if you want to disinherit a spouse, registered domestic partner or descendant. Safekeep shows you that guidance before you start and does not try to work around it.
- Your answers are stored in your own browser, not on our servers. Clear your browser data and they are gone. Print or save your documents when you finish.
Price, licence and refunds
- You pay once for the option you choose (one person, or a couple). You may complete, print and update your own documents as often as you like.
- Email hello@storynovaglobal.com within 30 days of purchase for a full refund, no reason required. Refunds are issued once per customer.
- Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, which handles card details, taxes and invoices; we never see your card number.
Limitation
To the extent the law allows, StoryNova's liability for any product is limited to the amount you paid for it. We publish these limits because we believe you should know them before you buy, not after.
